AIC Quilting Group - Who They Are and What They Are Doing!

Did you know that Alive In Christ (AIC) has a quilting group?
Do you know what they do?  Besides having A LOT of fun they also do a lot of good. Read on to find out more.

It's true.  Alive In Christ has a quilting group!  I’d like to take a moment to tell you what the group at AIC does. Our group began in February of 2022 with about 8 members. Our numbers have grown to 18. We are a group of quilters whose abilities range from beginner to experienced and everywhere in between. Some of us prefer to cut, some like to bind, some love piecing.  If you are just getting started, there is plenty of donated fabric available for you to use. We have ladies who donate their time to quilt and finish the pieced top.  All you need to do is create a patchwork top...with a little help from you friends (if needed).

We all enjoy the Christian fellowship that this time together provides for us.  We have gifted over 20 quilts in the last year. To us the quilts are considered prayer quilts. We pray that a  prayer envelops every recipient. These quilts are given to whoever needs a hug or a prayer. Some of the quilts have been gifted to members of our congregation, some to members of the community, some travel across our state, some are delivered to fire stations (in addition to quilts, the group donated handmade dolls to the local fire department) and other charitable organizations. If you know someone who might need a warm hug and a prayer to brighten their day, please mention it to Tammy Wiese or Sherry Loncar (or any member of the quilt group).

Did you know that LWM (Lutheran Women in Missions) provides thousands of quilts to people around the world?
You can go to lwr.org to see how the Lutheran Church is helping to heal the world with quilts. March would also be a great time to come and visit our group.  Even if you have never quilted, you will find it an easy skill to learn. There are other ways you can volunteer your time with this group that doesn’t include sewing.  

We invite anyone who is interested in quilting (or helping in other ways) to join the AIC Quilt Group for lunch on March 25 at noon in the Fellowship Hall.
